Jacob Cowing
Jacob Cowing Resumes practice
Mon, Jan 5, 2026, 5:59 PM
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Cowing (hamstring) will have his practice window opened Wednesday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Cowing spent the entire 2025 season recovering from a hamstring injury that he suffered during training camp. The 24-year-old is available to return for the wild-card round against the Eagles and will likely see a mix of reps on offense and special teams should he play.
Brock Purdy
Brock Purdy Not expected to miss practice time
Mon, Jan 5, 2026, 2:19 PM
San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that he expects Purdy (shoulder) to be a full participant in practice throughout the week leading up to Sunday's wild-card game at Philadelphia, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports.
Analysis: Though Purdy took every snap in this past Saturday's 13-3 loss to the Seahawks, he sustained what Shanahan labeled as a "stinger" when he was hit by a defender on the 49ers' final offensive play of the game. Shanahan relayed that Purdy would have been able to return to the Week 18 contest had the 49ers gotten the ball back, and the coach was even more adamant in his conviction that the quarterback would be available for the postseason opener after Purdy checked out fine upon getting evaluated further following Saturday's game. Purdy concluded the regular season having completed 197 of 284 pass attempts (69.4 percent) for 2,167 yards, 20 touchdowns and 10 interceptions to go with 147 yards and three more scores on 33 carries across his nine appearances.
Jake Tonges
Jake Tonges Stuck on ST with Kittle back
Sun, Jan 4, 2026, 2:03 PM
Tonges logged 11 snaps on special teams and was not used on offense in Saturday's 13-3 loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: George Kittle returned from a one-game absence Saturday, effectively pushing Tonges back down to third on San Francisco's depth chart for Week 18. Blocking TE Luke Farrell logged eight snaps behind Kittle and was not targeted in the regular-season finale. Tonges emerged in 2025 with a 34-293-5 receiving line that was generated primarily while filling in for Kittle at various points of the campaign. Assuming Kittle did not suffer a setback, Tonges will remain a non-factor for the start of San Francisco's playoff run in the wild-card round.
Kendrick Bourne
Kendrick Bourne Non-factor in Saturday's loss
Sun, Jan 4, 2026, 1:52 PM
Bourne failed to catch his only target in Saturday's 13-3 loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: WR Ricky Pearsall (knee/ankle) was back on the sidelines for Week 18, but it was Demarcus Robinson (3-24-0) who filled in for the oft-injured starter this time around. Bourne had been elevated ahead of Robinson in similar scenarios earlier this season, but head coach Kyle Shanahan shuffled his veteran backups in the receiver pecking order Saturday. This development, coupled with the potential for Pearsall to return for the wild-card round, severely limits Bourne's upside for the start of the playoffs.
Brian Robinson
Brian Robinson Just two carries in loss to SEA
Sun, Jan 4, 2026, 1:45 PM
Robinson rushed two times for nine yards and was not targeted as a receiver in Saturday's 13-3 loss to Seattle.
Analysis: Robinson was only on the field for six offensive snaps (his lowest total since Week 8) with his club playing catch-up all evening. The veteran backup typically garners extra touches in contests San Francisco has a lead, but otherwise, it's been the Christian McCaffrey Show in 2025. Robinson appeared in all 17 regular-season contests in his first year with the 49ers, compiling 400 rushing yards and two touchdowns in a change-of-pace role. The 26-year-old will continue spelling CMC in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
Demarcus Robinson
Demarcus Robinson Draws start in Week 18
Sun, Jan 4, 2026, 1:29 PM
Robinson had three receptions on four targets for 24 yards in Saturday's 13-3 loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: Robinson earned a rare start filling in for Ricky Pearsall (knee/ankle) and received the most playing time (88 percent) in a game this season. The 30-year-old Robinson couldn't parlay the larger role into notable fantasy production after finishing the loss with a pedestrian stat line. Pearsall's status for the wild-card round of the playoffs is still in question, but Robinson's minimal involvement on offense limits his fantasy upside even in games he is asked to start.
Brock Purdy
Brock Purdy Sustains stinger on final play
Sun, Jan 4, 2026, 7:25 AM
San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan relayed that Purdy suffered a "stinger" after taking a hard hit to his left shoulder on the 49ers' final offensive play of Saturday's 13-3 loss to the Seahawks, Noah Furtado and Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle report. "It's just I got hit, and the left shoulder sort of lit up," Purdy said after the contest. "I feel good right now. We'll see how I feel [Sunday]."
Analysis: After accounting for 13 touchdowns over the 49ers' first three games following their Week 14 bye, Purdy had a down performance Saturday, completing 19 of 27 passes for 127 yards -- his third-lowest total of 45 career starts -- and one interception while adding 21 yards on two carries as San Francisco fell short in its bid for the NFC's No. 1 seed. His night ended on a rough note after he took a hard blindside hit on his final dropback, resulting in him lying on the turf for a few moments before he retreated to the sideline. Fortunately for Purdy, he appears to have avoided anything significant, with Shanahan noting that the quarterback could have re-entered the game if the 49ers had gotten the ball back. Purdy could still have his practice reps managed to some extent during the upcoming week, but the stinger isn't expected to affect his availability for the 49ers' wild-card matchup versus a to-be-determined opponent.
Jauan Jennings
Jauan Jennings Disappinting Week 18 performance
Sat, Jan 3, 2026, 11:22 PM
Jennings recorded four receptions on six targets for 35 yards in Saturday's 13-3 loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: The 49ers' offense never got on track, meaning none of their skill-position players managed a notable performance. Positively, Jennings did maintain a key role, finishing third on the team with six targets. His most impactful play was a 16-yard reception early in the fourth quarter that got San Francisco into the red zone. Overall, Jennings couldn't replicate his 2024 season, but he still ended the regular season with 55 receptions for 643 yards and nine scores across 15 contests.
George Kittle
George Kittle One long catch
Sat, Jan 3, 2026, 11:13 PM
Kittle recorded five receptions on seven targets for 29 yards in Saturday's 13-3 loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: Kittle returned from a one-game absence and tied for the team lead in targets. His only impactful play was a 20-yard catch early in the fourth quarter, though his lack of production was more a product of the 49ers' overall struggles rather than his own. Kittle battled multiple lower-body injuries throughout the regular season, though he ended the campaign with at least seven targets and five receptions in his last three games.
Brock Purdy
Brock Purdy Struggles against Seahawks
Sat, Jan 3, 2026, 11:02 PM
Purdy completed 19 of 27 passes for 127 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Saturday's 13-3 loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: Purdy and the 49ers' offense had been on an impressive run, having thrown for at least 295 yards and three touchdowns in three straight games. In Saturday's loss, he had limited opportunity due to Seattle dictating the flow of the game, with the 49ers only running 42 offensive plays as a result. However, Purdy was also stymied by the Seahawks' defense, averaging only 4.7 yards per attempt with just one completion of at least 20 yards. He ended the game with a bloodied thumb and remained down for a few minutes after being hit, but there is no indication his status is in jeopardy as the 49ers begin their playoff run.
Christian McCaffrey
Christian McCaffrey Stifled by Seattle
Sat, Jan 3, 2026, 10:23 PM
McCaffrey rushed the ball eight times for 23 yards in Saturday's 13-3 loss to the Seahawks. He added six receptions on seven targets for 34 yards.
Analysis: Seattle dominated time of possession, limiting San Francisco to only 42 offensive plays. That limited volume for all of their skill-position players, including McCaffrey. Even when he did get touches, McCaffrey was stifled by the elite Seahawks' defense, with his longest gain from scrimmage going for only nine yards. Despite the disappointing close, McCaffrey concludes the regular season with an excellent 2,126 yards from scrimmage and 17 total touchdowns.
Kendrick Bourne
Kendrick Bourne Stands to benefit with Pearsall out
Sat, Jan 3, 2026, 5:57 PM
Bourne is in line for more work Saturday versus the Seahawks with Ricky Pearsall (knee/ankle) inactive, Brianna Jeannel of the 49ers' official site reports.
Analysis: In Pearsall's absences Weeks 5-10 and 16 this season, Bourne has been the biggest beneficiary among San Francisco's wide receivers, tallying a 26-422-0 line on 34 targets over those seven games. He'll have to vie with fellow WR Jauan Jennings, RB Christian McCaffrey and TE George Kittle (ankle) for looks from QB Brock Purdy, but the opportunity still knocks for Bourne.
Ricky Pearsall
Ricky Pearsall Inactive Saturday
Sat, Jan 3, 2026, 5:42 PM
Pearsall (knee/ankle) is inactive for Saturday's game against the Seahawks, Briana Jeannel of the 49ers' official site reports.
Analysis: Pearsall missed a Week 16 victory at Indianapolis due to an ankle sprain and an aggravation of his previous PCL injury, but he was back in action last Sunday against the Bears, earning an 81 percent snap share en route to five catches (on eight targets) for 85 yards. He then was limited during Week 18 prep with the same health concerns, and with San Francisco's decision to sit him in the regular-season finale, the team clearly is prioritizing his health ahead of the playoffs. Pearsall's absence means Jauan Jennings, Demarcus Robinson and Kendrick Bourne will be the primary wide receivers available to QB Brock Purdy.
George Kittle
George Kittle Back in action Saturday
Sat, Jan 3, 2026, 5:38 PM
Kittle (ankle) is listed as active Saturday against the Seahawks, Briana Jeannel of the 49ers' official site reports.
Analysis: After sitting out a Week 17 win against the Bears due to a mid-to-low-ankle sprain, Kittle is back in action as the 49ers seek to claim the NFC West and the No. 1 seed in the conference. Despite operating with practice limitations during the entirety of Week 18 prep, it wouldn't be a surprise if he handles his typical 80-plus percent of the offensive snaps considering what's on the line. Since he was blanked in Week 7 in his return from an IR stint due to a hamstring injury, Kittle put together a 48-574-6 line on 56 targets in eight games before last Sunday's absence.
Kyle Juszczyk
Kyle Juszczyk Good to go for Saturday
Thu, Jan 1, 2026, 8:45 PM
Juszczyk (hip) does not have an injury designation for Saturday's matchup versus Seattle.
Analysis: Juszczyk managed a hip issue throughout the week but has been given the green light to play Saturday after logging a full practice Thursday. His availability is a big deal for San Francisco's offense given the veteran fullback's impact as a blocker and pass catcher. While he doesn't get enough touches on offense to be impactful in fantasy, Juszczyk has put together a nice 23-208-2 receiving line on 26 targets this season.
Ricky Pearsall
Ricky Pearsall Questionable for Saturday
Thu, Jan 1, 2026, 8:42 PM
Pearsall (knee/ankle) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Seahawks.
Analysis: Pearsall maintained a limited listing Tuesday through Thursday due to an ankle sprain and an aggravation of his previous PCL injury. Despite the health concerns, he was able to handle an 81 percent snap share and haul in five of eight targets for 85 yards and no touchdowns this past Sunday against the Bears. Pearsall's status will be confirmed about 90 minutes before Saturday's 8:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
George Kittle
George Kittle Status in question for Saturday
Thu, Jan 1, 2026, 5:01 PM
Kittle (ankle) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game versus the Seahawks, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Kittle has been tending to a mid-to-low ankle sprain that sidelined him Week 17 against the Bears, but after logging back-to-back limited sessions to kick off Week 18 prep and then telling Vic Tafur of The Athletic on Wednesday that he "absolutely" expects to play this weekend, he appears to be trending in the right direction to suit up. Ultimately, Kittle's status will be confirmed about 90 minutes before an 8:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Christian McCaffrey
Christian McCaffrey Set to play Saturday
Thu, Jan 1, 2026, 4:52 PM
McCaffrey (back) doesn't have a designation for Saturday's game against the Seahawks, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: McCaffrey initially dealt with a back injury in the fourth quarter of this past Sunday's win against the Bears. Per David Lombardi of SFStandard.com, the issue was described as stiffness by the running back himself Tuesday, when he didn't practice, but McCaffrey got back on the practice field Wednesday as a limited participant and now is clear for Week 18. McCaffrey is four catches away from reaching 100 for the third time in his career.
Kyle Juszczyk
Kyle Juszczyk Limited Wednesday
Wed, Dec 31, 2025, 9:18 PM
Juszczyk (hip) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: After missing Tuesday's session due to a hip issue, Juszczyk was able to log some on-field work, putting himself in a path to be available Saturday against the Seahawks. GM John Lynch told Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News on Wednesday that Juszczyk was trending toward playing Week 18, so his upgrade generally is a good sign in that regard.
Ricky Pearsall
Ricky Pearsall Remains limited at practice
Wed, Dec 31, 2025, 9:10 PM
Pearsall (ankle/knee) was limited at practice Wednesday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: For a second week in a row, Pearsall is operating with practice restrictions due to an ankle sprain and aggravation of a PCL injury that sidelined him Week 16 iat Indianapolis. He was able to suit up this past Sunday against the Bears and gather in five of eight targets for 85 yards on an 81 percent snap share. Pearsall likely is destined for a similar workload Saturday versus the Seahawks if he's able to ditch his designation ahead of the 8:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
